    BULK Email Solution
posted by Doug Sedgwick on Monday July 07 2008 @ 02:39PM PDT
Need your feedback! SCUMCAST flagged me as a spammer. They shut down ALL my
home outgoing email access until I ran full virus scans (nothing
found) on my 3 home machines and then MANUALLY changed
the SMTP port setting on the 4 accounts (wife / kids) in my
house. What led to this? Well - I've been collecting email
addresses for 10+ years now and am personally familiar w/
most of my list of 127 recipients. Out of the MANY gig
announcement emails I have sent out over the last 8 years or so,
I may have forgotten to include the "p.s. - you may
UNSUBSCRIBE w/ a polite reply..." TWICE all total. (I have even
unsubscribed a few people immediatelt after they asked!) But I
think somewhere along the line, someone got lazy and clicked
that "THIS IS SPAM" button. NOW - any email I attempt to send
w/ more than 32 recipients (it may be lower - this was the
amount I stopped at as I was systematically checking the other
day before I gave up) simply goes nowhere after it leaves my
outbox. I HAVE looked at HOSTBaby as a possible solution and
genuinely LIKE what I see - but Goldarnit - I have already paid
for website hosting elsewhere and I SHOULD be able to send out
bulk emails to people (albeit in a large quantity) that I KNOW
and who I informed would be on a mail list. ($20 a month is a
BIT over the threshold of what I can bear right now; I could see
paying $12 - maybe...) ALSO: I have tried at least ONE home
bulk email solution (Mailboy) that I liked well enough - but it
still thinks the messages have all gone out when it appears
SCUMCAST thinks I have exceeded a 30+(maybe lower) recipient
threshold AND stopped them. I imagine I'm NOT the only one w/
this problem and ANY suggestions would be welcome.
