I would like to know who submitted the info for my album to this company (it isn't listed in the companies that cdbaby submitted my music to through the digital distribution deal), and how it will benefit all the artists on there. Or does it only benefit the people swapping the music? Our music and/or info is being used as corporate website fodder...
The site is:
http://www.swapacd.com
My album info is on there, even though I don't actually have a physical CD for sale at this time (digital only). It seems that they get their info from allmusic guide.
Couldn't find any relevant info on the website, so any help would be appreciated.
Anyone else have opinions on this?

It doesn't look like the artist gets paid on the resell of the CD -- the 49 cent charge for the "swap". It's money for the owner of the web site.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
So this company is exploiting our music for financial gain. No surprise there...

Incorrect. The site allows users to trade physical CDs, similar to how individuals buy and sell used CDs to and from record stores. It's perfectly legal. There are similar sites for people who like to swap paperbacks, DVDs, video games, etc.
If you pull up your digital-only album, you'll see that it's marked "not available for swap"... which makes sense, because no physical copies of it exist. Nobody is ripping you off; please tune the paranoia down a notch.

As long as no one's *keeping a copy* when they swap CDs it's legal. The second someone keeps a copy then trades the original for another original *then* they're ripping off the artists.
So, there's that negative to places like that, for sure.
