    SNOCAP and MySPace
posted by Erik Nielsen on Saturday May 31 2008 @ 10:12AM PDT
Digital Distribution I was wondering if anyone has had problems using SNOCAP from their MySPace site as a means of generating more sales for their music? Wold this be a recommended tool to use? Any info would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Erik

Don't do it. Highly NOT recommended. Snocap has been struggling lately. My music was previously available through Snocap on my MySpace page, but nothing ever sold, or at least I never got paid, compared to a lot of money that's come from iTunes, etc. So people are buying, but they're not buying from a MySpace page. Just put links to your music on iTunes or CD Baby, etc.

Snocap had horrible customer service when I was on it. Just a big headache

Just enter the words "snocap" and "scam" into Google, pour yourself a nice, strong coffee, and spend the rest of the day reading one horror story after another. Good luck finding one single artist that received any money.

I guess the entry for "snocap" and "scam" say it all.

Hi, I just got contacted again by Dreamtrax records who requested me as a friend on myspace too. Is it true that they dropped the fee or are they up to something.

true.. i've sold tons of mp3's on all OTHER sites. yet snocap has sold none. odd, knowing myspace is a huge promotional tool for me. out of the 9 years that i've been on cdbaby, Derek Sivers has always weeded out, and protected me from loss. i'm sure once this "snocap" ordeal hits it's highest, it will drop just as fast. for the time being, i'll keep my snocap up (hoping for a lawsuit payoff.lol) not to mention that people hearing my music is far more important than the cash factor of it. kudos. visit mentalst8music.net :)

Yes, I feel bad for other artists who have the Snocap musicstore enabled/showing on their myspace site because it might as well be a banner saying "Click through this so that this artist can never get paid, and you will be delayed from seeing the other links and info that are truly valuable to the artist on this myspace page below this banner"

One little iTunes button from the code generated at http://www.apple.com/itunes/linkmaker is such a bigger bang for our myspace realestate.
