How can cdbaby artists request not to have their albums
encoded for "iTUNES plus"?

Better yet- how do they choose the option to make it available for itunes plus??? Or make ringtones. Or change the price. Or add/edit your band's description. IS THERE ANY WAY TO CUSTOMIZE THIS STUFF???

Right now there's no way to opt-out of iTunes Plus, but pretty
much all sites are DRM free.
The iTunes Plus songs are higher quality too, so as word gets
out they'll be more and more coveted by music fans who enjoy
high quality.
CD Baby is still in the process of finalizing everything for iTunes
Plus, and getting everything re-encoded for the excitement!
Feel free to e-mail at cdbaby@cdbaby.com or give us a call a
little farther down the line!

Yes, that is what we are trying to find out. It is called adding
metadata. Where the composer, lyricist, lyrics can all be added.
So when you check info. on iTunes you see all this information.
We used another company for 1 single and that was provided.
We would love to have this with CD BABY! We would like to know if
they are offering this? We also want to add a music video and
digital booklet, like other larger artists on iTunes. Can CD Baby do
this?

4 our 6 releases via cdbaby are now "iTunes plus" but all of the
tracks on those releases are now "Album only" -- you can't buy
individual tracks. glitch or policy?

yes. i am noticing the same thing. having individual tracks available has been very helpful to sales and i would like to know if that policy/glitch will be changed.
also, only some songs on an album are available to create a ringtone.

I have no problem being encoded in itunes plus, but I can't download anything in itunes plus myself because the itunes upgrade you have to download to do that will not work and I get error messages half way thru th eprocess and finally gave up.
That makes me think other users may be having this problem too and it will hurt sales

I'm using version 7.6.1, I believe, and just a few days ago, I had no problem downloading a few iTunes Plus tracks. Interestingly, those tracks said "Album Only," yet I was able to download individual tracks at .99 cents each.
I'm not sure what the deal is with the Album Only thing. On one page for a particular artist, all the tracks are listed as Album Only, but if I go to another page for that artist, those tracks are the usual .99 cents each.

For all of you who see the 'Album Only' buy button, are those individual tracks over 10 minutes? Because one of my tracks that is 12 minutes by itself, has the Album Only buy button, but the rest of the songs can be bought individually for 99 cents.

All the songs were listed as "Album Only" even though none of the songs were over 10 minutes. The good news is, I just checked again and now all the songs are back to "normal" -- no more Album Only. So, it looks like Apple had a glitch there for a few days and have now fixed it?

This is very helpful to me that you wrote about this. My sales had been climbing steadily on itunes from 2005, 2006 to 2007, then the first 5 months of 2008 tanked (relatively). The iTunes Plus thing causing many people to not be able to use iTunes in general might speak for much of why sales have gone down. That would cause many people to give up on using the whole store until fixes and stability are available, regardless of whether or not our tunes are encoded as itunes Plus yet.

Hi Steven,
Sorry to hear that your downloads are not going as well as they had previously. I'm not sure what's going on with that because my downloads have actually picked up. A group just released an album a few months ago with the same name as an album I released 5 years ago. So, now people who are looking for their album are finding mine and I've seen an increase in sales at iTunes.
I hope that things pick up for you.
