Bilingual and bicultural singing sensation Veronica Lopez, known as “Chaparita” in her hometown of Las Vegas, will be featured as one of the local artists nominated in four Latin music categories during the first Las Vegas Latin Music Awards to be held Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Cashman Convention Center Theater.
Long considered a crossover singer/songwriter in both markets, Lopez has been nominated for the four Awards: “Best Regional Mexican Performer-Female”; “Latin Music’s Rising Star”; “Best Latin Pop Music Performer”; and “Best Recorded CD”.
Lopez, the petite Latina singer with the colossal voice, will perform a medley of original tunes, concluding her program with an impressive new rendition of her ballad, “America’s Glory” now titled “America‘s Glory, The Anthem.” Performed for national audiences, even prior to its CD release, the Spanish translation of this song, “La Gloria de America, El Himno” is recognized as the ‘Immigrant’s Anthem’. Written as a tribute to her father, Lopez pays homage to immigrants of all nationalities who come to America, struggle but maintain hope and determination, and ultimately pave the way for their children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams.
