    iTunes link there...gone...and back?
    posted by deto-22 on Wednesday November 21 2007 @ 04:17PM PST
Digital Distribution I noticed a few weeks ago, our iTunes link in our list of digital outlets, disapeared only to show up gain on October 7th. iTunes was one of the first company to give us a link through cdbaby last year when we signed up.
Then it was gone and now back. Does it renew every year? Is the url link I have been plastering for a whole year now the same?

I'm not sure why the links went away and then came back, but they haven't changed.

iTunes doesn't really point this out, but there is a quick and simple way to get you iTunes url if you ever need it.

Just open up iTunes and bring up your album's page in their store. Once it's up, just right click on the album cover and you can copy the album's url.

Another cool trick is if you right click on the artist name (from that same album page), you can get a link that will take you to a page with all the albums by that artist.

Or, go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/linkmaker and make all the links you want. This is helpful if you have several albums on iTunes and want to make one link to your artist page that displays all your albums.

Cool ! What about those fancier "graphic " Itunes links i see on some myspace pages? Where do these come from?

    by Clare on Monday November 26 2007 @ 02:08AM PST [ reply | parent ]
If you right-click on the iTunes graphic, you can save it on your computer. I found some pretty cool smaller graphics for iTunes just by googling iTunes gif and iTunes jpg. I use them for my iTunes links for individual tracks.

Well, I was wondering why we get payments from iTunes-Europe but none from the USA?
...and just found out that there is a strange change in our band name in the iTunes US store. Our band´s name is AQUARIAN AGE, and we are listed with that name in European iTunes stores as well as in Japan (I think), but in the US its "THE Aquarian Age". Any ideas what to do about this?

    Chris -

Don't worry - sales aren't tracked using artist names or song names. Your album UPC and the ISRCs assigned to your songs are what our digital partners use to track sales, and that information is unique to your music.

Also, iTunes US sales are reported as "Apple iTunes" inside your account.

    Hope that helps!

Yeah, it does. Thank you for your feedback!!!
Still wondering why the changed the artist name ...

Have you seen iTunes today? (Dec 7, 2007) Most of my tunes are not to be sold as singles for .99 anymore, only by "Album" Was this a CDbaby thing, or is Apple weeding out the indies? (My major label tunes are sold as singles, but my indie label got knocked down a notch) What's up?

    by Clare on Saturday December 08 2007 @ 12:21AM PST [ reply | parent ]
On iTunes, tracks that are more than 10 minutes in length are sold with the entire album. Take a look and how long your tracks are.

    Here's a weird one:

For one day, every song on my album (band: Ember
After, album: Grasping At Straws) on iTunes was only available
as album only...and only as "iTunes +" versions.

I assumed that iTunes was in the process of changing the album
to an iTunes + version (which I absolutely want). I hoped that
soon my entire album would be available as both songs and the
whole record as DRM-free higher bitrate iTunes + songs, but
after that day, it was back to just the normal DRM-low bitrate
    non iTunes + versions.

I hope our CD Baby albums are available as iTunes + soon!

I've seen strange Itunes stuff sometimes but usually get it worked out by emailing cdbaby. My current problem seems to be lingering though.

I had a single that sells 60+ downloads each month report back with zero sales. This doesn't seem plausible since it gained popularity on the itunes rating during that period but it's been about a couple of weeks with no resolution.

Your note say digital dist. takes 2-5 weeks.
I have several cds out and have been out from may '07 onward but my dd isn't showing increased distribution.
The most I have on any 1 cd is 26 and a low of 13.
    Is there a reason?
    Thanks

I have been waiting and checking every day for the past month for cdbaby to send my cd to itunes becuase thats where 90% of all my sales come from and there are alot of people waiting for it.

twice, i have checked and it says it has been sent to itunes and then then two days later it doesn't. why?

by Chris from CD Baby on Monday February 11 2008 @ 01:49PM PST [ reply | parent ]
Our apologies to anyone who has been waiting a little extra this go-around for their music to be delivered to our digital partners. And likewise, very sorry for anyone confused by the fact that we made some deliveries,... and then removed those companies from your delivery history.

Basically, we had a little database problem that corrupted our last batch of deliveries, and has prevented us from making any new deliveries for the past week. But we know how seriously important it is for our artists to get their music up for sale on our download partners' sites quick, quick, quick.

We've got our whole tech team toiling away to fix this as soon as we can. Once we're back to 100% we'll rush-deliver all of the albums that have been waiting. And thanks so much for your patience!

    Dear Friends,
I'm not sure where to post this.
Regarding iTunes and digital, is the distribution global or only U.S. based?
A Japanese label I am working with wants 50% of iTunes Japan royalties, i'm trying to figure out how to alot that to them.
    Many thanks and regard.

    Reply to: deto-22

I experienced the same thing, one of my albums was released on 08/01/2006 and made iTunes by early '07, but for some reason the link on my CDBaby Digital Distribution page says "october 2007" just like "deto-22" said. The same thing happened to my Amazon link, which originally propogated (sic?) in late 2006. What is the deal? I love CDBaby, but am disappointed that the only reason given thus far is "I'm not sure why" by Kevin [at CDBaby].
