The PayPlay station was somehow removed from my myspace page,
apparently by snocap when they went in and disabled the digital
kiosk snocap store as cd baby pulled out of our contracts! Has this
happened to anyone else?

hmm, my payplay thingie is still up on myspace....so far. Then
again, my snowcap went off even only a few days after it went
up...as soon as the news of the cdbaby/snocap stuff appeared
here. (non usa user and therefore totally dependent on the cdbaby
affiliation)

I've been trying to make my Snocap store work for 6 months and it's proven to be a total nightmare- and I have a friend working there that can't even get it to work right on my end. (He had to manually create 4 albums for me). Furthermore, I'm upset that while the sales reports tell you how much money you're receiving, they don't tell you which tracks or albums were purchased.
All this aside, I think we need to start talking about alternatives to SNOCAP. I'm looking for some right now and will post if I find anything that looks good.

Hey William,I think you may be very fortunate that your Snocap account is not active. See the following 2 articles:
1. I am still concerned that from July through end October no sales at all have showed through Snocap/MySpace and CDBaby. I know there must have been sales because we were getting so many hits during that period. In June (which was before we were getting all the hits) we sold $131 through Snocap/MySpace and CDBaby.
Is there anyway you can audit them for sales during the CDBaby/Snocap relationship.
2. Hey guys, I have some news I logged into my account w/ Snocap account on Sunday to find that we had been selling downloads at 4500 per month since March 07 we are selling through our page myspace/ovatronicscorp so it does work.
I always thought it was weird it never showed any dollar amounts before so this lets me know they were trying to withold information from us. Something told me to print out the information before I contacted them which I did. I was finally able to contact them , its funny because now my Revenue is set back to zero and it shows no record of the before mentioned information.
I will be taking up legal action really soon, If I do not get a response from them. So I'm sure there are a lot of us who have unpaid funds with Snocap. I think I was not suppose to see this information, I think they were in the transistion period because I now have total control over the account after my numerous calls to them yesterday.

I too have been shopping around and somewhat leery. Checkout www.melodymanagement.com They don't look to be live yet but saw a demo. Service looks awesome. They have a player, ringtones, in addition to your own e-commerce site (hot templates). Can book gigs too. You get a brief demo when subscribing. They even help you copyright your stuff 1st. Also found them on myspace.com/melodyunderground. I'll keep shopping around and I do too like CDBABY.

I'm just curious. I posted a an announcement about my winning 3 awards at the Toronto Independent Music awards in October, but it never showed up (I posted it twice about three weeks apart. Did I do something wrong?

I have 2 alternatives, both work perfectly. First and foremost, snocap is a joke. Seriously. Set up your own iTunes store and earn from it.
Secondly, get one of these nifty players and it sells for you 24 hours per day via Paypal and you keep 100%...
I'm not posting this as an ad, BTW. This is my way of helping all of you succeed. CDBaby is the best!!!
Check out my MySpace and see them in action...

I seem to remember an article re licensing "standards" in jazz recordings. Something about how in a 5 minute song, actually only 2 minutes are the original song, and the rest, being improv, is really new music.... so maybe one would only licence for 2 minutes...?
