Just running the usual Monday-night payments to artists, and was quite surprised to see that this week's payout amount was over $1 million. $1,046,317.61 to be exact.
Pretty amazing that it took us four years to hit the $1 million mark in payouts to artists (1998 to 2002), now it can happen in a single week.

I laughed at myself yesterday when I checked my digital page and let out this big Whoop! I think the entire hotel heard me! LOL! As if I'd won a million dollar contract with an awesome label who lets' me keep all the rights to my stuff and is honest and forthright and lets me keep full creative control and does tons of great publicity /marketing around my music and loves and supports me me and spoils me rotten! ! LOL!!!! but it was only 2 more digital downloads for .99 cents LOL!!!
Derek you guys do more than just distribute, open channels for indies in the marketplace, and give us great ways to understand our sales from the access to data you give us,....That is all really importat stuff. but more than that my hopes raise by having this open channel support( CDBBABY.ccom) with which I can build my business and see fruits of my efforst every so often. Being an indie I can't do it alone annd yet can't affod to hire people to do certain tasks. The best feeling in the world. and though I feel there ought to be more fruits for the effort I put in, I also feel this chanel is stil new and that it's a matter of short time before that can happen.. since now there is a stable and steady diligent channel that doesn't shut down out of greed or exclusivity or fear or whatever, for it's own wants.. but rather recognizes that the channels gets to stay open as long as it's there for the greater good of us all somwehow..

I have always been very happy with how much money we get in from our CDbaby accounts, and the pay is so prompt!
One problem I have had recently- the new Digital reports leave off band and album name. For a lable with 30 plus album and 15 bands that makes it very difficult to apply the payments to the bands so they get paid by us!

I was shocked when I 1st joined, because within weeks after my music was posted for digital distribution I was able to buy lunch with the check that I recieved (LOL). Even though it wasn't alot I was really excited about it. I'm glad to say that my last 3 checks allowed me to purchase more retail ready CD's, along wwith a new addition (equipemnt) for my studio.

Let me just say this.....After ten years in the music industry, releasing 4 cd's and performing on numerous coffeehouse circuits, I have only come across ONE company that I can completely put all my trust and faith in. I've spent my whole life in the music biz working on lots of major projects. Hey Derek and CD Baby family......I just want to show you guys the importance of CD Baby to independent artists as ourselves.....You guys remember the movie "Crash" starring Sandra Bullock and others, well the main producer "Mr Yuri" couldn't seem to pay them what they were promised. The movie cost almost 7 million to make, and raked in 55 million. Sandra Bullock and all the other main stars got paid $19,000 (their only check). Lionsgate is investigating the situation......but it just goes to show you that you don't have to depend on the big guys all the time........remember that....sometimes if you want the job done right, you have to do it yourself........

I can't believe you guys pocketed 400,000 just for sending Cds in the mail for people
Hey do you realize that we already pay shipping just to send our CDs to you and then most the people that buy our stuff are people we know that could have bought from us direct if we just would have taken time to set up a simple website like on myspace and then a paypal account which is just as secure and has probably even a better rep.

Derek DO YOU KNOW THAT IF ALL COMPANIES WE HAVE INCREASE JUST A LITTLE SPEED in adding us to their distribution network Cdbaby can hit 2milliom a week .Give them the idea that they too can make more money by move it up alittle faster
for every cd the waste time puting on their system that is their 99 cent/SONG waiting.
I am a guy who encourages every opportunity to bring in revenue.
Already you can make that 2million a week if all your song our song are included in the distribution net work a little faster by host companies. IT COST NOTHING TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR ASK THEM NICELY DEREK .eNCOURAGE THEY THAT THEY ARE LSOING MONEY TOO BY NOT PUTTING YOUR SONGS AT LEAST MAXIMUM 60 DAYS
Get back to me on this you will make 2mill a week right now if all your song were on their system maximun 60 days which is rational for them.
Is there anywhere that we can remind Companies to include us a little faster on their distribution network 60 days maximum. Waltmart for example takes too long. I am proud of Cdbaby I feel like I am with a friend and a helping hand . I have personally introduced our cd baby to so many people. You make me proud.
So any suggestion I can bring in that can speed up geting to 2 million a week I will render.
Derek my mom said it cost nothing to knock on the door nicely so ask them nicely to keep it to 60 days for you.They too will make more money by adding ALL YOUR SONGS on timely BASES 60 DAYS.
Remember derek there are companies that are fast we separate those ones call them
category A
CETEGORY B are those 30 days or less
yOU KNOCK ON THE Doors of category C 45 days and up those who leave your songs pending 60 days or more. That is money lost for cdbaby and the companies too LIKE WALT MART ETC.
THAT IS WHAT IS KEEPING YOU FROM HITING THE 2MILLION /WEEK

1 million a week. Now thats progress for CD baby! I hope some of that money gets placed towards more advertising and promotion to keep the ball rolling. Id be interested in knowing what the ratio is in digital distribution vs tangible CDs sold, my guess is that dd is rising.
