    Scams! Beware! Beware of scams.

Need your feedback! Many outside people tend to contact me interested in purchasing a HUGE number of CDs at once.

I thought I'd put a post up to keep people informed.

They try to intice you by offering to buy hundreds of CDs and ultimately ask for your routing and account number to do a bank transfer.

I personally think this is fraud, because once you tell them to pay by credit card, money order, or Western Union, they're gone with the wind.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have had a similar experience.

This group from Nigeria contacted me and wanted to buy a large
amount of both of my CD's. I immediately alerted when they said
    "Nigeria."

To make a long story short, they wanted to pay for my CD's with
an "international" check, then I would deposit it in my account
for the CD sales. BUT, they were also going to send me a check
for over the amount due. (it was never clear why they couldn't
just send the proper amount) Then I was to send them a check
for the difference. Sound fishy? You betcha!

As I was once a victim of identity theft big time from the
Nigerian Mafia, I already knew they were not to be trusted and I
also had found out how they worked when they got nailed in my
    past experience.

    SO HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
They pay you for your CD's with a fraudulent check, so you're
liable for it at your bank when it bounces which it will. AND,
you're out the "refund" you send them for the overpayment.

    DON'T FALL FOR IT!
I got away from them because I knew from the beginning what
was going on and by threatening to report them to the FBI (they
ran like cockroaches under the spotlight!)

Remember: IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS!

    Hey Dan J.,

Thanks for the tip. It's amazing what people worldwide will try to get money for nothing.

    Peace,

    Evan

We have a retail instrument store and had a similar experience last summer. Got a fax requesting to purchase a keyboard... but they wanted it shipped to Nigeria. Said it was all pre-paid shipping, but when we checked with UPS they said it was a scam that they see all the time. The seller gets ripped of in that they don't get paid for whatever product they ship... UPS gets ripped off because the recipient claims they never got the shipment... the credit card company gets ripped off because a consumer can protest a purchase for up to 6 months, either claiming it never arrived or was defective. So, always beware of overseas shipping, unless you're experienced in imports and exports. :)

I was asked by a site in Germany called "just for kicks" music to send them some cds and they would pay me after they arrive...the site looks trustable and I´m really willing to send them,

I hope they don´t turn out to be scam!

    Danielle,

Unless you've already sent them, I would definitely check them out on the web etc. as much as you can. Or send just one or two and see how that works out.

It it then proves reliable, send more. I've used this method quite successfully when sending to global locations like Australia, Greece, Poland, Germany, Scotland, England, France, etc. I've really only been ripped off for a small number of CD's by doing it this way.

I have worked with Germans at occasions and must say they are very reliable. But as a business practice, always know who you’re dealing with.

Three phrases should be among the most common in our daily usage. They are: Thank you, I am grateful and I appreciate.
